Miran, fresco fragment of ruined Buddhist shrine, M. III. Cat. Stein LHAS Photo 13/1 (51)
Miran, one of the smaller settlements in the kingdom of Kroraina, was an early centre of Buddhism. The murals found in Miran show not only the influence of Gandharan art, but also that of the classical West. This fresco piece, originally found in several fragments, shows Gautama Buddha in teaching pose with princely worshipper.
